Osian’s-Cinefan is the world’s largest festival of contemporary Asian Cinema today, with a deep commitment to high quality creative film making. A parallel and complementary event, IBM², established last year, includes Talent Campus, an Art & Film Memorabilia Auction, Exhibitions on Asian Art & World Film Memorabilia, Lectures & Panel Discussions and a World Media Conference, and now adds another unique infrastructure-building dimension to the festival.

These events which constitute IBM² are a part of the pioneering long term vision of Osian’s of helping to place the arts at the centre of India’s developmental framework. The nurturing of a cinematic culture and the cohesive interlinking of various cultural disciplines are essential ingredients in this long term process.

In this context, Osian’s, wishes to stimulate a dynamic discourse that is self-reliant and self-sustained and yet open to weave itself into the larger global social, political and economic fabric. IBM² is designed to nurture and encourage creative voices and provide a space where questing minds will be free to experiment and maybe stumble upon artistic innovations and realizations.

IBM² this year will attempt to clarify the holistic and multi-dimensional nature of the art object (be it a film, a painting, book, piece of music, discourse, or the like). Our integral approach to aesthetics, culture, education, economics, law and material infrastructure will bring the facets of creativity onto a common plane, so that art can be grasped through its key dimensions – aesthetic, historical, financial and developmental, all functioning within the legal framework. The complex network that maps intercommunion between these fields will form the basis of IBM² this year. Aesthetically, historically, financially and culturally, art must generate art.
